Kampung Bayam Madani Farmer Group Harvests 138 Kilograms of Agriculture and Fishery Commodities

Kampung Bayam Madani Farmer Group (Poktan) at the Kampung Bayam Temporary Housing (Huntara), Ancol Urban Village, Pademangan Sub-district, North Jakarta harvested 138 kilograms of agricultural and fishery commodities.

"Hopefully, this urban farming can continue to be preserved in the future,"

The grand harvest, which also included a thanksgiving event and community discussion, was attended by Special Staff to Jakarta Governor for Social Communication, Cyril Raoul (Chico) Hakim; Head of Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture (KPKP) Agency, Suharini Eliawati; as well as officials from North Jakarta Government.

Chico Hakim mentioned that the event is one of the realization of collaboration between residents and the govenrment in an effort to build food resilience in Jakarta.

"I'm very happy to receive an invitation from Poktan Kampung Bayam Madani. This is great, we're seeing all the yields, from vegetables, fruits, and fish that have been cultivated," he expressed, Monday (5/5).

He hopes this harvest can motivate Kampung Bayam Madani Farmer Group to be more innovative in developing agricultural and fishery products, as it can also contribute to community welfare/

"Hopefully, this urban farming can continue to be preserved in the future. We have heard all their aspirations. Hopefully, the rights they seek can be fulfilled so Jakarta residents can live prosperously," he conveyed.

Jakarta KPKP Agency head, Suharini Eliawati, also expressed high appreciation for Kampung Bayam Madani Farmer Group for successfully cultivating Pangasius catfish donated by Jakarta Govenor Pramono Anung.

"Today, we are harvesting Pangasius donated by the Governor. It's extraordinary how they were able to cultivate so many. Not only that, they are also developing other types of fish," she said.

In addition to fish harvest, the farmers also harvested their urban farming commodities, such as timun suri, beligo squash, and bok choy.

According to her, beligo squash is currently being developed by Jakarta KPKP Agency in all regions of Jakarta due to its high vitamin E content, which is very beneficial for children's growth and can help prevent stunting.

"We are happy because the harvest is being utilized by the community itself, and if there is any surplus, it is sold. This is very good for maintaining food security and their economy," she stated.

On the other hand, Kampung Bayam Madani Farmer Group Head, Muhammad Furqon, detailed that in a 4,000 square meter land, his side harvested 40 kilograms of timun suri, 16 kilograms of hydroponic bok choy, 32 kilograms of beligo squash, and 50 kilograms of pangasius catfish and catfish.

He expressed his gratitude to all Jakarta Government officials for supporting Kampung Bayam Madani Farmer Group's urban farming by providing seeds, guidance, and training.

"Alhamdulilah, today's harvest can sustain our livelihoods. Hopefully, the urban farming managed by the community can become an agritourism destination in the future," he said.
